It's Not Unusual
And it's Tom Jones no more, but rather Sir Tom Jones. How cool is that? Tom Jones, Welsh singer of much cheese and fun has been
knighted.

This is the kind of news I can get behind.

**Also of note, Robbie Coltrane has been knighted as well.

Reindeer Games
You Are Blitzen

Always in good spirits, you're the reindeer who loves to party down with Santa.

Why You're Naughty: You're always blitzed on Christmas Eve, while flying!

Why You're Nice: You mix up a mean eggnog martini.

Done!!!
The insanity of second quarter is finally over! In less than a week, I've graded 82 Junior midterm exams (altogether comprised of 4100 objective questions, 820 short answer, and 82 essays), 25 Freshman midterm exams (altogether comprised of 2500 objective and 25 essays), 80 take-home tests on The Great Gatsby (consisting of 400 short answer and 80 essays altogether), 25 full essays on The Odyssey, and 22 journal projects. And I still have no great animus toward grading, though I am so very thankful for scantron.

As of nine this morning, my grades were in, and I'm now staring at two whole weeks of peaceful relaxation, spending buckets of time with kashi, playing video games, and the chance to finally get back to my writing.

Despite the utter exhaustion, this quarter's been a tremendous learning experience. I'm starting to get a decent handle on what works and what doesn't. Still haven't quite figured out how to motivate the students, but then I'm not sure anyone's figured that one out yet. It's still rather staggering, though. I procrastinated in school. All the time, in fact. Didn't get to be a Rockstupid Student for being diligent, after all. And yet, I still got the work done, and on time as well. The indifference these kids have toward deadlines just floors me.

Ah, well. Next quarter we'll move into The Grapes of Wrath. I've no great love of Steinbeck, so we'll see how that goes. After all, though I never cared for The Red Badge of Courage or The Great Gatsby when I was a student, I've grown to love RBoC and now have a great respect for Gatsby. Teaching the works makes a huge difference, I think.

And now, if you'll excuse me, I shall head off to play some FF VII.
