It's Not a Toomah! |
Well, got checked out by the ENT doctor today, and happily, I am not suffering from a cholesteatoma, but rather a really, really, really nasty infection. No surgery! Oh, the relief.
He cleaned out my ear (not the most pleasant experience, but I realise the necessity), and prescribed the mother of all antibiotics. I'll see him again on Monday for another cleaning, and to make sure the antibiotic is doing its job. But the best thing is: no surgery! And maybe before long, I can hear again. Oh, but that would be lovely!
Blog note: two actual content posts are forthcoming, one hopefully by the end of this weekend. Must get them in soon, as I am leaving the blogging world entirely for Lent. |

Making Me Ill |
It has been nearly four weeks since I first started getting sick, three weeks to the day since the flu really sank its teeth into me, and just over two weeks since I developed an ear infection. I'm really tired of being sick, let me tell you. More than anything, I want my ear to clear up. I want to hear again, dang it! I'll be going to the doctor again today to make sure it hasn't become re-infected. And on top of that, I feel as though my body's trying to get sick again.
And I blame it all on Texas. Every time the whether switches gears from a balmy 70 to a chill 40 (which is nigh daily of late), my body freaks out. Of course, I'm sure the interminable ear infection isn't helping. Blarg.
Apologies for the blithering--just needed to get it out. Please wish me good health, 'cause if this ear doesn't get better soon, I'm pulling a Van Gogh.*
*Interesting side note: I was checking on which ear Van Gogh lopped off, just in case my infected one turned out to be the opposite (it's not) and happened upon this café in New Jersey-- Van Gogh's Ear Café. I must visit it some day! |

Poetry List |
Since this is making the rounds, I thought I'd join in. In case you've not see the others (though if you haven't seen it at kashi's already then shame on you), it goes as follows: All below are first lines of poems. If you know 'em, leave 'em. If not, change 'em to something you do know and bold them. Simple, neh? 'Course, there're a couple on here I wish I didn't know so that I could get rid of them. Sigh--it's tough being a poetry snob.
1. Had we but world enough, and time,
2. I never saw a Purple Cow
3. Wee, sleekit, cow'rin, tim'rous beastie
4. Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
5. Do not go gentle into that good night,
6. How pleasant to know Mr Lear!
7. How do I love thee, let me count the ways
8. That’s my last Duchess painted on the wall,
9. Turning and turning in the widening gyre
10. ’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
